Saw an NEC UHF transmitter in very nice condition in Seattle a few years
back. I'll bet its still in operation, but I can't remember the call
letters. It even had the original NEC exciter!

I haven't included foreign manufacturers in my origional list. If so, on
of the oldest if not the oldest companies that is still operating is the
German company Telefunken, which recentkly changed its name. As I recall when
they were owned by Continental I jad some literature from them that dated back
to pre 1900 a very historical company.

RE; NEC TV transmitters, I have never met a NEC TV owner that was unhappy
with the TV transmitters. Things are changing now since the single US support
employee has retired. There are two NEC TV transmitters paralleled in
Birmingham on Channel 6. They built UHF and VHF transmitters and sold quite a
few in the US.

NEC also built FM transmitters but I only saw one in the field in a small
station in Cocoa Beach, FL. The others were seen at the NAB show.
