A couple weeks ago I was astonished to see one of my local stations' traffic reporter speaking into his headset inside an obviously idle (parked) helicopter while they showed dept. of transportation traffic-cams. But then I noticed the titling specified "on traffic watch standby" (or some such) so I guess it was honest (and I appreciate the cost of fuel, not to mention the inherent and considerable risks of noodle-wing aviation). At least they weren't playing SFX of turbine whine. However, it did remind me of Les Nesmith's chest-slapping "helicopter traffic report."
