One of the more famous bulletins in TV broadcast history ("In Dallas,
Texas, three shots were fired at President Kennedy's motorcade...") was
delivered by Walter Cronkite from a radio studio because CBS had no
means of airing an on-camera news flash at the time.  As far as I can
tell, it get the message out without any extraneous bells and whistles.
