[BC] President Ford dies

I know you're kidding Doug, but I think this is one politician that everyone
held in the highest regard as a person.  He may have been a Republican by
choice of party, but he was also one of the last true centrists with an
interest in getting it right, not just winning his side.  I wish we had
given him a second (first?) term, but his pardon of Nixon, now believed to
be the correct thing to do for the country and a moment of extreme courage
on Ford's part, sunk his chances.  He went from a staggering 75% approval
rating to somewhere in the 30's literally overnight and never recovered.  I
met his daughter, Susan, when he was still vice, and she was as pleasant and
easy to be around as your best pal.  She hated the attention but suffered it
well.  She was also very proud of and attached to her dad.

Alan, he was a Republican......... I'm suprised they didn't interupt and 
play clips of him falling down. Or clips of Chevy Chase falling 
down.....A real missed oppourtunity for CBS. But, then again, it hasn't 
been the same since Dan Rather left. Sigh.
