[BC] Frank Stanton is dead

Probably one of the very last of the top management people from the 
Golden Age of Radio, Frank Stanton did a little of everything along the 
way, starting in research but playing a key role in the political 
battles over color TV standards and freedom of the press - not to 
mention being responsible for CBS' incredibly high graphic standards 
over the years.

The NYT obit (which has probably been sitting in the can since the early 
70s) is quite comprehensive...

Of course, the publicity today will be all about James Brown, instead. 
Hopefully there's someone working at the Broadcast Center today who 
still remembers the Stanton era and can remind Katie (or whoever's 
filling in for her tonight) to at least mention his passing on the 
Evening News.
