I understand how this might work with some formats, but one of the things that VT has going for it is the
emotion of the live announcer. I can't see how a voice synth can capture the inflection and passion of
a live person. I think it would get very boring to listen to after awhile.
A local pop jazz station used liner carts and a few inserts. I found it very stale to listen too. A year later
they either added VT or live announce and it made all the difference in the world to the sound of the station.
It suddenly had personality rather than a cold juke box.
(Tom, I've been asking around about the Middletown station, but no one I've talked to seems to know much
about it.)
