I'm familiar with that one.
That's the easy part ... artist/song title. I'm looking to see if the
composer/writer info is also stored on the CD and the music publisher.

When you rip the CD has a code that is sent to (if you have it set up) one
of several databases. No other information is stored on your CD unless it's
a CD+G.
The databases are updated by people like you and me who, if the information
is not in the database, want to place it there by entering the information
by hand. Be where,,, because anyone can update the database it may not be
accurate, especially if I have had a beer or two. Sometimes I put the
composer, year and comments in for the ID3v2 tags, depends how many cups of
coffee I had.
If you don't believe me try to rip a CD with a computer not connected to the
internet. All you get is (track)1, (track)2 etc..
Some of the Gold disks are on the CDDB database, some of which I put there.
The other database I use is "freedb", it works the same way.
