ABC wouldn't. AMC/GE, the operator would. Is this real or simply
recirculation of a memo from earlier this year?
I have yet to check my SG's. But we've never had a problem with RX
signal. We're 1/3 obscured by a neighboring tree and still EbNo of >11 on
all RX's with 12 dB of attenuation on a solid 3.8M DH dish. IIRC, they
stated earlier in the year they could give back another 6dB before fringe
coverage ground stations might start seeing issues. So anyone who has a
problem receiving AMC8 west of 83 deg. has a system problem on the ground.
Also, they would not lower power on one transponder. The whole bird would
be lowered unless specific transponders need more power and are at minimums
already. SO WW1, Jones, and Premier would also be lowered. So don't
ignore those RX's either.
