[BC] AM Daytimers Leaving The Carrier On

Gee, it just one switch. In the old days, it was "Plate Off"! If those
people can run a console, they should be able to shut off the carrier on
the transmitter. Sounds like to me some folks that just don't care.
Also, if this is still going on, they just don't care, or just plan lazy
to go turn it off before they leave.

Sounds like some teenager or young person, more worried about going and
picking up their Friday Night date than making sure everything is shut
off that needs to be off before leaving, especially the carrier!

Back in my teen years of radio at the AM daytimer, we just shut the
plate off and left the filaments on all night. Easy enough.

I talked to the owner of WWII 720 AM a couple of times before
he died about the personnel not turning off the transmitter
when the station signed off. He knew it was happening and he
also knew it is illegal. He talked to the person about how to
turn the transmitter off but the person apparently didn't get
it. Maybe it is a different person now but whoever it is they
don't get it either.

Dave makes a good point too that the station would have to
identify once an hour. However, if the station has the
carrier on illegally guess it doesn't matter if they identify
or not.

I wonder why WWII 720 is allowed to come on at 6:00 A.M. all
year but WIEZ 670 and WIOO 1000 can't come on till sunrise?
All three stations are on the same frequency as Chicago
stations.
