The large floodwater pumping stations in New Orleans still operate
on 25 Hz AC power, and the city is debating whether to repair the
25 Hz equipment damaged by Katrina, or to replace it with modern
60 Hz equipment.  This is a big undertaking, because the 25 Hz
stations provide nearly two-thirds of New Orleans' floodwater
pumping capacity.

For the old-timers here... were any vintage radio transmitters
(Gates, RCA, etc.) certified to run on 25 Hz AC power?
