I'm not a lawyer, but it is my understanding
that the big groups do that only because of
the tremendous abuse that has occurred
and they got into trouble. It is easier to
require only class-credit interns than to
keep records and control what happens.

If you come to me and ask for instruction,
you can either pay me or work it off. That
is my call unless some suit in corporate
HQ has nothing else to do that week. (Fortunately
my HQ has no one in suits. Ray gave that up
a long time ago. I wear suits on occasion, but
rarely when working on a transmitter.)
