I remember, back around 1967, when a friend graduated from
Auburn University's EE program. I was driving him back home to
northwestern Florida, and we got into a techy conversation.
He absolutely believed that:
[1] "Every vacuum tube in the world has 250 Volts on it's anode",
and
[2] "There is no such thing as an AC-DC power supply".
No matter how much I argued (I was already chief engineer
of WJHO, Opelika, AL, where I had a Collins 20V-2) he remained
convinced that his beliefs were true. That there's college
larning' fer ya.
