That video is frightening. I'm thankful my brain was nearly fully 
formed before I got stereo. I was in High School. A priest in a 
religion class accused me of being a materialist because I had stereo 
by that time. He had visited the house and saw it.

The other kids in the class were horrified when I raised my voice to 
him. I was angry. I've always loved Classical Music and argued that 
it helped me more directly connect to God by inspiration.

I convinced him, I thought. However, he had snookered me. His purpose 
was to get me to join the debate team. I can only imagine what it 
would have been like if there had been 5.1. I would have been 
expelled. I was already doing a daily radio show (the school let me 
out early) and could have put media pressure on him. Fortunately, the 
station was mono. I survived.

My fiance and I wanted him to marry us but her father threatened to 
literally make it a shotgun wedding. My mother suggested we elope. We 
honeymooned at the Chateau Frontenac in Quebec City. We were 
constantly looking back to make sure he wasn't following us.

I can't say I'd blame him today. If I had a daughter threatening to 
marry a DJ I'd buy a shotgun. Maybe even an AK-47. No jury would convict me.
