SO... What you're telling me is that the battery in my van is going to... Go
dead?  Wear out sooner?  Blow up?

While I was in Nevada the girls discovered the dead battery at least two
weeks before I got back and didn't tell me nor did they try to jump it, so
it was dead for as much as a month.  I jumped it (that took awhile to build
up enough charge to turn it over) and finally got it started, then went for
a long drive to further charge it.  It *seems* fine now.  Anything I should
watch for?

Any lead acid battery suffers permanent damage if discharged below
 about 80% charge. Automotive batteries more-so than so-called
 deep cycle as they simply don't have the reserve lead in them.
 Lead acid stands over-charge very well, PROVIDED the plates are
 not allowed to dry out at all, but they do not like discharge.
