A generation ago there was no Internet. The current generation is
used to getting what it wants for free and linking to or borrowing by
downloading, then uploading to their site.

This is what has devastated the music and newspaper industries. Free
music from file sharing sites, and reading newspaper articles online
without benefit of leafing through the ads in the print version.

Broadcast is different. Streaming radio can include commercials. TV
site prerolls include ads.

But the bottom line is the younguns are used to getting free
content. And removing whatever someone linked to from your site
doesn't make the problem go away. It remains in someone's cache.
