Yes,
You could use a terminal program if you have appropriate cabling.
 
FYI, Jameco sells a serial to parallel converter, so any (old) parallel
printer could print from a serial source.

I have an eas serial printer that doesn't work after a lightning 
strike.  I don't have a second serial printer.  How would I test the 
serial output of the EAS unit to make sure it's just the printer 
(which I've confirmed dead, no lights, etc) Could I check it through 
a terminal program?
