Just ask them to call through an old-fashioned landline phone with a carbon microphone element (the classic "salt and pepper shaker" handset).  That naturally distorts the voice enough that radio DJs often use one to distort and disguise their *own* voice while making prank calls, or when having someone in the studio call in to the show and act as a make-believe caller.
