Yes, there are real scams.  It's actually an extortion racket of sorts.  One
of our computers at R&R had a popup with some really vulgar porn and the
message: "WARNING!!  YOUR COMPUTER HAS BEEN INFECTED WITH ILLIGAL
PORNOGRAPHY!" and a notice that, if we sent them $49 they could clear it
up.  Well, it wasn't really illegal, but certainly gross, and the point is
-- THEY PUT IT THERE.  I don't remember what I used to get rid of it, but
this stuff happens once in awhile.
