[BC] Neighbors fear radio tower near Utica, NY is making them ill

One of the those comments includes a link to the WKTV website, where
you can find video showing the location of the tower relative to the
house. WOKR's two-bay antenna is mounted only about 90 feet AGL and
there's a pond directly between the tower and the house (also visible
in the Google satellite image) so the reflected energy off the ground
may be higher than usually assumed for normal soil. It's a wide
tower, so I would also guess the antenna orientation was "optimized"
to favor the southeast, throwing maximum signal towards Utica. Yes,
this is the same direction as the house.

These factors might account for a few dB, but it's still a stretch to
think a 3 kW Class A would cause the health problems described in the
article. As far as I can tell, there are no other broadcasters at
the site, just some microwave tenants which shouldn't contribute any
significant power at ground level. Let's see some actual power
density readings and compare them against multiple-user short-tower
sites like Pinnacle Hill in Rochester, where the total RF level was
once so strong it would cause my car stereo's audio amplifier to shut
down.
