Question:    How does the system work from a
technical viewpoint?    (Still unanswered)

I see that setting the contraption on a table during
dinner effectively turns it off.

I see that feeds via satellite are ignored.

On the basis of those two items, I think the 
system has problems.

But - thanks to your link - now I have a  *much*
greater understanding of the system.

Other than how it works!
