Back when I was a kid - mid to late 60s, IIRC.

Not sure when they started, but the newscasts themselves were ID'd for 
quite some time before the reporters were ID-ing packages and actualities.

In fact, last time I listened to an AP feed, the packages still aren't 
being separately ID'd. "From Washington, I'm Jim Whatzisname."
