KCCT in Corpus Christi, TX has Clearwire. It's adequate. Signal is sort
of weak at the studios/transmitter. I get 800k-1meg down, 384 max up
with the level of service they have. Several folks use it at once just
fine for email and web browsing. It's also used for remote access to
several computers after-hours.
The only problem has been when someone moves the modem - which has the
antenna built-in - and doesn't realize how critical placement is. I
suspect in areas with stronger signals this is less of an issue.
Soon I will have another Clearwire modem for a long term test and will
see how it works. Oh, I've used it at an FM site, also - to remote
control a PC.. we can air programming from this PC if necessary.
Clearwire lets us remote in when needed. 15k TPO, 280' 4-Bay. Clearwire
modem doesn't seem to care about the RF in that environment.
If you're an amateur radio operator, I've also done EchoLink using
Clearwire. Works fine.
Majic Jack, a few quick tests, it works, need to do longer-term tests
though.
