If I recall correctly WKOX got a power increase with a new pattern
that shot right into Boston and all the ships at sea. When I worked
there the AM was 1Kw days at 1190. Now 1200 at 50Kw. Better luck than
the FM when we went from 15 to 50Kw. We put up a 400 or 500 ft. tower
with 12 bays and would warn each other not to bump our heads on the
bottom bay. I'm told the tower fell down. I notice the COL is Newton,
not Framingham.
I would assume that 50Kw for WCAP would further tighten their pattern
to completely avoid Boston. We all know that Boston is very
interested in the Lowell local programming (wink, wink). Is this even
worth the electricity it'll waste?
