Our data center at IDT (the long distance company with 2 cents a 
minute. Note you have to add the 49 cent connection fee per call) had 
Halon with extraordinary exit options in the event it went off. 
Apparently it works very fast and kills every living thing. All doors 
closed automatically but had the yellow emergency stripes so they 
could be seen and large red buttons to open the doors in case someone 
got caught inside. I was one of the fire wardens in the building. 
According to the Fire department, the Halon will kill you well before 
the smoke will. When we built the network studios (Talkamerica) we 
had to be very careful not to remove more than one floor panel at a 
time or the system would activate.
