The "normal" way of shielding personal contact information from spam, is to use an Email address that will be in your host, that uses the correct name, i.e., Webmaster at MyDomain.com. No spammer is going to send spam there, yet legitimate queries can be received from this account. You do want to be able have "Generous Electric" contact you and offer to buy your domain name for $200,000, don't you?

GoDaddy OFFERS the privacy protection, but it's a third-party
registration;I forget what the fee is offhand.
