Another fix is to place a small dissipater at the upper end of each 
guy segment.  A station in tropical Mexico used to get hammered 
constantly by guy wire discharge.  We furnished 48 small dissipaters 
through Paul Gregg's company which they installed on each segment and 
have never had a tripoff since.

The problem with either resistors or dissipaters is that the guys 
must either be lowered or someone has to ride a trolley down each 
wire installing them  You can find people who will ride the trolley 
in Mexico, but Americans just don't want to.
