The only reason they started doing this is that the light got shone on the
telco cockroaches and they scattered. Actually if you want to know the truth,
Verizon offers a 30 day satisfaction guarentee for FIOS where they'll put
things back the way they were within 30 days-and when they were pulling the
copper, they sometimes had to come back and reinstall it if the customer's old
Internet was Verizon DSL, and the customer wanted things put back the way they
were.

A good friend just got FIOS.  I told him to not get the bundle, or to
keep the existing phone number and get another on bundle package.  I
told him to stand firm that the copper not be removed, and that if
they tell him it has to go, to send them away.  Others have done this
in the past successfully.

The FIOS technician told him he cannot remove the copper.  While my
friend is not technical, he said the FIOS tech said that they have to
leave it FOR COMPETITORS.  I find this hard to believe, but that's
what he said.
