Not certain who your friend might be the 314R circuitry is very good. The performance is also very good. All of us in sales and others will agree that the major fault was the design of the Audio, PWM, Control, Oscillator all on a "Mother Board" . AT the time it was designed it could have used the same boards in use on the "Power Rock-5" This design decision was made at Collins and very few changes were made at Continental. We still have the prototype model at CEC for testing those control boards.

As I have mentioned several times on this forum you may not be able to get parts or a service engineer on some products as old as this box but we still have several employees who worked on those units and we still offer parts as available and field service on the 314R-1 which was in production 30 years ago at Collins.

I once had the same question about the same model transmitter and asked
a friend of mine who used to be an engineer at Continental. His reply?
"How about gasoline and a match?"
