I think we are missing the point.  It is really, really hard to screw up
that bad.  I certainly couldn't do it (I don't think).  It takes a
special talent and a special person to do it, so they must be rewarded
appropriately.  Of course, the ones doing the rewarding are the same
ones doing the screwing up, so.....
