Yes,  I had heard the WEAM transmitter and it was a talker.  It  was a 10 kW 
version and I understand that it had been additionally  modified.  The three 
of those I was involved with had the single tube final  for 5 kW. even though 
two were the BTA-5U and  BTA-5U2.  None of  them would do much for positive 
peaks except for the short time after we put new  tubes in the modulators and 
final. 
 
I was competing with a BTA-5H that had plenty of modulating power at 5 kW  
with two 5762's in the PA stage.  It is my recollection that the BTA-10H  used 
three 5762's in the final PA stage.
 
I always wante to see what was done to the WEAM transmitter.  It  really was 
loud and sounded good.
