<< I would love to hear an all-news format on satellite radio, but not just
the audio from a cable network. The problem with using the audio from a
cable TV network is that some information is conveyed visually, such as in a
graphic. That information never gets to the audio-only consumer. Ideally, XM
or Sirius would offer one or more of the major market all-news radio stations.

If my employer KQV were to be on satellite it would be a nice potential
source of NTR.

Of course, the folks in Omaha and Tacoma may have no more interest than the
folks in Boynton Beach or Mashapee in our purely local Pittsburgh news. But
the satellite service would surely fill in the coverage gaps of our AM signal.

We do a more than adequate job of covering national and international news.
Yesterday we carried the Bush-Karzai news conference. Today we had a 2-star
general from CENTCOM in-studio. Local news included the granting of
Pennsylvania's first slots licenses, a smoking ban approved by county council, the
solving of a 24-year-old cold case murder, and installation of a hi-def projector
at the Science Center planetarium.

Is there out-of-market audience for that kind of coverage? Perhaps by
curiosity seekers.

The satellite services have not shown interest in carrying us. Yet, without
permission, one of them recreated our top 40 era on an oldies channel using
jingles we still air during nighttime programming.
