[BC] 1 kW AM xmtrs

Paul,
That's because it was an antenna issue! You were told that several times! It won't work unless the transmitter is looking at 50 ohms...period! WQMA has terrible antenna issues and there is not a damn thing any transmitter manufacture can do, be it Harris, Nautel, Armstrong, BE, etc, unless that antenna's ATU tuned correctly. You kept getting too much VSWR in the box and it was shutting down, risking buring up the FETS in it.
Jason didn't have the money to get it the ATU worked on, and Keith Hammond and is friend installed the transmitter wrong, and left it ungrounded! Sinan (owner of Armstrong) and I had a converstation at the NAB about WQMA's Antenna deal and we just laugh.
There is more to this story about the installation of the Armstrong Transmitter at WQMA, that I don't want to get into here, but I say that the owner (Jason) should have done his homework about AM antenna systems, and keep his butt out out of chat rooms!
Paul, I'm not jumping on you, because you didn't know, but Jason, Keith, nor Jody, didn't have enough brains to install that box right to begin with. You called me several nights in a row and I told you that you needed someone like Mike Patton, Fred Morton, Chris Carb, or Jim Turvaville to come there and get the problem straighten out. I would have came, but I couldn't get away from here. We needed a bridge and we needed to do a sweep to check the bandwidth of the antenna as well. Larry Fuss installed an Armstrong X-1000B at another station with no trouble because there were no antenna issues.
WQMA has a piece of crap, series feed antenna, and has probably had not much mantanence done to it since it was built, besides what chance Larry Fuss got to work on it.. Now Larry Fuss needs to jump in here and comment on the QMA's antenna system from what he knows. He's the former owner.

I worked at a station that had an X1000B. Armstrong's Tech Support was
horrible and wasn't much help when we had issues
