[BC] Making engineering pay

Could set up a 'Society of Broadcast Engineers' with a little horsepower,
such that it sets the rates the members can charge based upon the tests
they've passed to earn their letters...

Broadcast Engineering USED TO BE a good source of income in most every
market!
WE as engineers are to blame for this not being the case today!!
I have asked over and over and over. HOW DO WE FIX THIS? No one has even
given
a suggestion. If you can't take the heat, then get out of the kitchen isn't

valid reply. I want real discussion on how to slow down and/or eliminate
this
cancer that's slowly spreading through our industry.

I agree with Bernie.  Those who find that they are not earning enough
in broadcast engineering are free to try to find a better position in
the field.  If that doesn't work, they might consider having a second
source of income or letting broadcast engineering be their second
source of income.
I've known of at least on radio station engineer who did it as a
second job.  He made his living at his main job and did broadcast
engineering on the side.  He was good at diagnosing and fixing
equipment problems.  I know of several people who worked in radio
(not engineering) full-time in the past, who now work another main
job and work in radio on the side.
