That's all well and good... that was then, this is now. Back when AM was
King, there were no real alternatives. FM was still a novelty, playing mostly
"elevator" music. People had little choice but to wait for their local AM station
to sign-on, if they wanted news, information, traffic reports, weather, etc.
Nowadays, it's a whole different ballgame. There are a myriad of other media
options, not the least of which being full-service FM stations running 24
hours. AM lost its throne long ago, now. We can't compare then with now. It's
apples & oranges.
