I think I'd have a problem with that. Are you sure the salesperson 
wasn't still working with the client to extend the buy? If the client 
did extend it how would you have explained the lack of the other two 
spots? I have to admit I have a problem with employees deciding on 
their own what part of a production order to follow. Your job was to 
cut 7 spots, not to argue with sales about how many were needed. 
Salespeople have relationships with clients and agencies that change 
by the minute. In New York a spot can run into thousands per run. 
Let's say each spot was to be billed at $1500. How would you explain 
the loss of $3000 if the client either asked for makegoods or 
cancelled future orders?

Unless you're part of the sale I doubt you have enough information to 
overrule the Traffic/Sales department. I've seen many orders increase 
because the salesperson was still working on merchandising or offers 
from the "prize closet."

I know it's heresy here to suggest that anyone but engineering has 
brains, but, sometimes they do. If you had cost my station the 
additional money I would have fired you.
