XLR Connector Wiring:

Pin 1 always ground
Pin 2 Always Hot or leading edge positive
Pin 3 Always the other one (other side of leading edge)

In the case of unbalanced, Pin 1 and 3 are tied together for the 
ground side and Pin 2 is Hot.
