Craig,
There are either four or six screws on the side of the CD10 that hold the
top on. Remove those and the top. You'll see a board with various
components and connections. There are also two screws toward the back.
Remove those two screws, one of which has a ground connection and the board
should lift from the back exposing the laser lens. Use a Q-tip with the
purist alcohol you can find and gently wipe the lens clean. There are also
two rails that the lens mechanism rides on that should be free of gunk and
also should be lubed. If the laser hasn't weakened significantly this
procedure should get you going again. If you have to replace the laser,
it's not that big of a deal because it's an assembly that slides off and on
the rails. I'm doing this from memory so some of what I'm telling you may
be slightly inaccurate. Just open it up and take a look. It's all pretty
intuitive.

Subject: [BC] Re: Audiometrics CD-10 E
IIRC I was having trouble with a burned CD. How might
I clean the player? Again, no manual found, so no
instructions. I can't find an online PDF of the
manual either. The CD played in another AudioMetrics
CD player, but that player had no role in the on-air
chain, so that solved nothing. I had no time to dub
the CD into our automation system as an MP3. It
sounds like the CD player needs cleaned, so I'll seek
advice from the group on how to do that and proceed
accordingly. Thank you for all your help. Craig
