Makes too much sense to follow the Aussie's lead.
 
Tho if the FCC DID do what I suggested, tongue in cheek, think of the bonanza for all the equipment manufacturers, over what they are making now on extra transmitters, filters, etc.  All sorts of new phasors, maybe even new arrays to design, build, and put in and tune and prove.
 
Instant economic recovery for the US!!
 
And think of how all the extra expense is going to eliminate the congestion on the airwaves from all the mom-and-pop stations that cannot afford all the new equipment so have to go silent or sell to the big conglomerates to program remotely.
