Yes, Larry, and how many on this list know what Piclear is? How about
carefully cleaning a clogged quad head while on the air? Let's get
out the allen wrench, load the tip tape, and set that baby up for
record! Oh, those bars look nasty...Whoops, that sucker was recorded
in low band color.

I found what Jack had to say very interesting and similar to what we did
when I was doing the evening news for then KNXT Channel 2 in LA (now
KCBS-TV). We had and used our two ACR-25s for news clips. Prior to the
news we did a dub reel on 2 inch quad which we aired for commercials.
It got quite interesting as it was CBS's policy not do air airline
commercials in breaks before or after airline disaster stories. It was
kind of hard to do this when all the spots aired from a dub reel. This
was also about the time we stopped using film. I remember mixing the 5
O'clock with four of our six film chains in use at the same time, taking
audio from various chains while the film was taken from other chains.
Telling a young person in our business about telecine is like talking
about ancient history. Most don't even know what telecine is or how
important it was in the early days of TV.
