Firewire is a plus, for me, as my NLE solutions are Macs, and my Macs, 
desktop or laptop, all have Firewire, or can have Firewire added for 
under $30, through a Cardbus or PCI card.

This and the several additional features present on this device more than 
make up the difference in price between the M-Audio unit ($499) and this 
unit ($999).
