[BC] call letters and what they stand for

Back in the 80's KSLM 1390 stood for K-Salem, and the companion FM was KSKD 105.1 which stood for "Cascade" (the nearby mountain range boarding our Willamette Valley).  We lovingly converted those calls to K-Slum and K-Scud in the engineering dept.  They were a first class operation and we meant no disrespect.  The FM was formally KORI for the previous owner Oregon Radio Inc. and before that was KSLM-FM.  KSLM-AM signed on in 1934 on 1370 or 1380 and moved to 1390 sometime in the 40's as I recall.  I think the FM came online in the 50's.

  longest running station with the same calls in Chicago.
