Have you checked the batteries?

Yes, belive it or not, the Airwave (along with the Impulse and many of the 
transmitter models made by Harris) require alkaline batteries (either AA or 
9v, depending upon model) in order to function correctly.  This caused us a 
lot of hassle the first time we installed an Impulse back in the late 
nineties (things like low-level noise and jitter in the outputs).  A good, 
fresh battery fixed it.  You want to change the battery at least once a year 
-- every six months is better.
