Analog phones in most cases did the DTMF tones internally......the digitals
all generate the tones at the last switch end (all the phone sends is
digital signals, nothing analog)...the cell switches when sending DTMF to
the Telco evidently default to a short on/off timing which works ok talking
to the PSTN...but not too well when it comes to remote control systems..
