[BC] Can traditional AM and IBOC co-exist?

There are some new developments in the lower "medium
wave" bands.  Since the use of 500 kHz as a maritime
distress frequency has been phased out in the Western
Hemisphere, a group of amateurs has filed for an
experimental license to use PSK31 and CW modes with up
to 20 watts EIRP between 495 and 510 kHz.  See:

The tentative callsign WD2XSH has been assigned to
this application, although grant of the license is
still pending.
