Nor has Apple if you compare things properly. There's no subscription fee
for any of the podcasts (mine will have one shortly), the podcasts are being
counted individually, with most people subscribing to over 20 podcasts, only
to abandon most of them eventually (or be abandoned by a podcast producer
who realizes just how hard that 4th, 5th and 6th podcast and beyond is to
do).

In addition, the receiver (iPod) was already "installed" - there were
already around 27 million people listening to podcasts before Apple opened
their doors and obviated the need for an aggregator.

This is more like a new channel or two on XM than a new service.

Not downing it - I love podcasting from both directions (that probably
sounded really dirty to Willie), but let's not be too sensational.
Podcasters are already beginning to feel fatigue - listening and producing.
