Jon:

The V2 is three boxes: combiner & two V1 amplifiers.  The
mouse set up house in the combiner, which has very little in
the way of electronics (the two mosfets and relay logic). 
The V1's have a battery but supposedly it just keeps up the
memory on the error log.  Probably worth a try, though, to
pull the battery & see what happens with the one "latched
up" V1.  Can't make it much worse.
