FWIW, the way I have our SS32 stations set up is with a simple latching 4PDT relay in the program line, driven by two relay outputs from the BT switcher.
 I also have a pair of  small momentary pushbuttons paralleled to allow switching the studio on should the switcher fail. 
SS32 hotkeys are set up to control the relays, one for Studio =>Air,  another for SS32 => Air. 
That allows me to log in via remote and set it where it should be when the operator forgets.
