Gary has always been the "go to guy" who rigorously and patiently dissected everything the FCC has ever written about EAS. We all owe Gary a great debt for highlighting large and small issues that we might, without his diligence, have overlooked. Like those of us who were there when EAS. was launched in 1997, Gary cared about the vital public service that broadcasting brings to public emergency alert and warning. So, have a wonderful retirement after a stellar performance of this public service that has helped saved lives and property. It is up to us all to make sure we properly maintain and use this important public/private service. EAS still has a viral role in the new world of social media and other warning means that rely on cell service and the Internet. Why? One of the documented impacts of major emergencies is impairment of cell service and internet; leaving broadcasting as a kg my resource of our critical infrastructure that may be the only means to let the public know what protective actions to take as dictated by emergency management. Many thanks for all those years of service, my friend!

He is very active with the Society of Broadcast Engineers (SBE) both in Wisconsin and has served twice on its National Board of Directors. He also serves on the Wisconsin Broadcasters Clinic program committee.

It's been a privilege to volunteer my service all these years for the people of Wisconsin, and the EAS on a national basis. I will truly miss my EAS colleagues and friends, and thanx to you all for the support and rewarding relationships.
