And this is one of the things I have said again and again.
When I was in the Navy we spent a lot of time (at times we thought too
much time) training. Fire Drills. Man Overboard Drills. Etc.
The bottom line is, though, when the excrement hits the ventilation
system everybody knows exactly what has to be done.
But in the civilian world training takes time and costs money. So it
gets skipped.
While I don't think it is fair or even reasonable to Monday Morning
Quarterback the emergency services people in Maui it is also extremely
clear that they were not up to the job.
