[EAS] EAN redux - FEMA

This is from the top paragraph of Page 3 of 4 in the link that Sean provided.

If, for some reason, you are sure that the EAN or NPT has terminated incorrectly upstream from you, you must get your ENDEC to send the EOM tones. This is easy, just use the "abort" soft key from the front panel. Then read the screen, and push yes twice more. The ENDEC will send the EOM tones. This is the preferred way to end an abnormal EAN or NPT event.

I know it works on common alerts but having never had an EAN alert nor the need to abort one, I can't say whether it works or not for dumping a rogue EAN. Has anyone specifically asked Sage support?

Dave, I think that simply interrupting the EAN as above will send the EOM and terminate the actual EAN transmission. The EAN can contain A message but is not necessarily THE entire message. If I recall correctly an EAT would have to be issued by authorities to officially end the notification "event" started by the EAN. I don't recall there being any technical connection between the two.

It has been a number of years since my involvement with our state EAS committee so that could have changed somewhere along the way.
